With Friday night rained out at Tomah Sparta Speedway we opening our season at Wisconsin’s Action Track, Jefferson Speedway.
With one pervious practice here Jaxxston had some laps under his belt. You could see his confidence build with each session improving on line, lap times, and throttle control. He ended practice P12 of 31 cars signed in.
We went into group qualifying with confidence that a few good laps could put us in the show. Unfortunately a slip up on the first lap killed Jaxxston momentum but he still managed P19 when the dust settled.
Next, our six lap heat race was on tap and Jaxxston started shotgun on the field in P6. Some great moves early through the field landed him in P3. Not afraid to go to the outside, that’s where he went as the leaders ran tightly nose to tail. P2 ran him up the track between turns one and two and he ended up getting spun, no caution was thrown because he was able to get rolling quickly. It turned out this was a good thing as the leaders go together in turn three ending the race under caution. We were credited with P5.
Jaxxston had to run the Last Chance race starting P1 and the top 4 transferring to the feature, our goal was to make the show. Although he didn’t win he finished P3 to advance in a green to checkered race.
With a stacked field in front of him he started P15 and knew to keep his eyes forward. On the second lap the big one happened on the backstretch between the leaders. Jaxxston spun to avoid and every car was able to continue. Once back to green the race was full speed until three laps to go. During that time Jaxxston moved into P14. After the green flew for the theee lap shoot out you could tell Jaxxston was on a mission to get one more spot as he got a little over aggressive and spun the next car on the last lap. Still credited with P13 finish, we made sure to do the right thing by coach him and making him apologize to the driver he spun.
Overall it was a very successful start to 2025 and we head into next Friday at Tomah Sparta Speedway with little maintenance and slight preparation.
